My recent cruise around Iceland was amazing! No more long drives to explore a very large island. The ship brought me right into the beautiful fjords to visit the towns around the perimeter. Unpacked only once and still saw incredible and varied landscapes. We did some easy hiking, we did some climbing for great views, we explored a terrific whale museum in a tiny village, we got up close and personal with puffins on a remote cliffside, and we relaxed in comfort on board at the end of every day. That was Iceland in the summer.
But as you will read in Strolling with Your Elephant, a visitor can enjoy Iceland in the wintertime, too. Especially, if you pick the Food and Wine festival that brings great chefs from both sides of the Atlantic to compete dish-by-dish, using only local ingredients. Add wine pairings in each restaurant if you wish.
See "Iceland" in the book for full details about how and when it all works.
